We had a fantastic day at our Spinnaker Tower Abseil on Saturday 24th September 2022!
We were so proud of our incredible team of 34 epic abseilers. The Spinnaker Tower stands at a mighty 100m, and it was so inspiring to watch them take on this amazing challenge for Challengers. We even had our amazing CEO Gen, an abseiling tiger and ‘Spiderwoman’ taking part and adding to the awesome fun of the day!

‘It was a such a pleasure to cheer on our incredible Team Orange last weekend – I still can’t quite believe my eyes! Every abseiler was truly an inspiration and their fundraising makes such a huge difference to our work at Challengers. Thank you so much to all our abseilers – you are all legends!’
Spotlight on Phoebe!
We were hugely excited that the Spinnaker Tower and Hatt Adventures have made this incredible experience, an accessible experience! This truly aligns with our mission at Challengers where we believe all disabled young people should have the same opportunities and experiences as their non-disabled peers.
We were totally in awe of previous service user, Phoebe, for taking on this incredible challenge. Phoebe abseiled alongside abseil instructor Jamie, and I think you can see by the grin on her face, had a fantastic time!

‘The sun shone on what was an amazing day, I was simply in awe of Phoebes courage to descend 100 metres down the Spinnaker tower. She overcomes so much in daily life but wanted to raise money for Challengers so other disabled people have the opportunity to participate in social activities which ordinarily are not open to them. There was a tear in my eye when she reached the bottom and the marina spontaneously applauded. Magic! I am incredibly proud of Phoebe – she rewrites the rules for anyone with a disability. What next you dare devil??’

“It was amazing to see so many of our corporate partners take on the Spinnaker Tower Abseil challenge! A huge thank you to Property House Marketing, Plan A, Mesh Energy, Technics, Coins Foundation, Caper & Berry and Vail Williams. A lot of our partners had teams full of staff in the true spirit of bringing staff together especially after the last two years of hybrid working). It was fantastic to see staff come together and bond over such an (exhilarating experience, laughing and having fun along the way. Not only was it an honour to support them all on their journeys but was truly a wonderful day cheering them on! We can’t thank everyone enough who took part, donated or cheered on Team Orange.”
We are delighted to say that the Team Orange raised a phenomenal £20,716 at this event… this incredible sum could fund 114 days of play, fun and laughter at our schemes, and we can’t thank you enough!
We hope to be organising another Spinnaker Tower Abseil for 2023, so keep your eyes peeled if you’ve been inspired by our amazing team!
