Challengers celebrates commitment to paying Real Living Wage

We are so excited to share that we are now officially accredited as a Living Wage Employer, paying the Real Living Wage! As an accredited employer, all members of staff working at Challengers now receive a minimum hourly wage of £9.90 (£11.05 in London), regardless of their age.

Remembering Sandy Tyrrell

We are very sad to announce that Sandy Tyrrell – a wonderful former playworker, Trustee, and Patron of Challengers – has passed away. Sandy was one of Challengers’ first ever playworkers back when the charity first started, and has been a truly amazing supporter over the years.

Isla and Orla’s Mini Triathlon

Isla’s younger brother Ayrton started at our Guildford Pre-school in January, after being diagnosed in May 2020 with Kleefstra Syndrome – a very rare chromosome disorder which causes developmental delay and means he needs a lot of extra help and care.

#TeamOrange At-home Superheroes

Over the summer holidays, disabled young people all over the UK were challenged to take part in a month-long virtual tour of the world as part of At Home Superheroes: Superheroes on Vacation, powered by Marvel. We’re pleased to say that two of our young people rose to the challenge and took part, completing their own fantastic missions and raising money for Challengers.
