Challengers announces the appointment of new Chair of Trustees, Russell Harvey

We are delighted to announce the appointment of a new Chair of the Board, Russell Harvey. Russell is a highly regarded and experienced Finance professional, having spent over 30 years in Banking and Finance. Throughout this time he has worked with a vast range of companies of all sizes, both domestic and international, helping to support their growth ambitions.

Based in Guildford, he currently leads a team at Metro Bank, focusing on Retail, Business and Commercial Banking – nurturing colleagues to provide outstanding service to their clients.  Up until September he had spent 10 years as governor at the Weald School in Billingshurst (a large secondary school with sixth form), the last 5 as the Chair of Governors. He brings valuable Commercial experience and a passion for the charity having worked with Challengers for a number of years.

On his appointment Russell says,

“I am hugely excited about the opportunity of taking on the Chair of Trustees role and to support Challengers with their ambitions and plans.  I have admired the charity and the valuable work they do for so many families for many years, and it’s an honour to now take up this position”.

Gen Dearman, Challengers CEO commented, “I am delighted to be welcoming Russell to our board at Challengers and am excited for what the future holds under his leadership. His wealth of professional experience alongside his personal drive and passion for our outcomes will help create an exciting future for the charity”. Russell will succeed Challengers current Interim Chair of Trustees, Gail Bedding in March and we have already started an induction into our charity.
