Charity of the Year Partnerships

Choosing Challengers as your company’s Charity of the Year is a great way to give employees a common goal and unite your team.

Join our Business Club!

The Challengers Business Club is a dynamic group of local and national companies who are dedicated to supporting Challengers while gaining valuable benefits to grow their businesses. By partnering with a beloved local children’s charity, you not only demonstrate your commitment to social good but also engage your customers and staff in meaningful ways. Members of the club enjoy:

Exclusive quarterly events, often featuring guest speakers with insights into key business areas including business negotiation, public affairs and branding.

Each company membership provides 50 hours of play for a disabled child or young person through their fees.

Meet some of our amazing corporate partners

Brewers

For over 20 years, Brewers Decorator Centres have been an incredible corporate partner to Challengers, supporting our work with numerous donations. In 2004, Brewers very generously donated £1,000,000 to the charity to build a brand-new Playcentre in Farnham, helping us to bring the joy of play to more children and families. Throughout the years, Brewers have supported us via direct company donations, staff fundraising and partnership campaigns, including the recent Vibrant Lives campaign in 2021 where Challengers received 30 pence from every purchase of Albany tinted colour, culminating in a donation of over £10,000. We are incredibly proud to count Brewers as a corporate partner, and look forward to seeing what the future holds for this mutually beneficial partnership.

Kelly’s Storage

Kelly’s Storage has been working in partnership with Challengers since 2010. Back then, Director Moira Martin came up with the fantastic idea that Kelly’s Storage could pay for and organise a sporting event on behalf of the charity. The first event raised an incredible £30,000 for Challengers, and the rest is history! Kelly’s Storage Charity Events was born and an amazing relationship between the Green & Orange teams was established. We have worked on almost 20 events together to date which have raised more than £500,000. Many Kelly’s Storage staff have also become passionate supporters of Challengers, and have raised over £10,000 through their own initiatives. We are so grateful to Moira and the Kelly’s Storage team for their ongoing support and generosity.

COINS

COINS is an integral partner of Challengers, helping to provide a lifeline of support for disabled children and their families for over ten years. To date, COINS have invested £87,964 in Challengers, enough to fund a whole year’s running costs of one of our satellite Youth schemes! Every year, a wonderful team from COINS come along to Kelly’s Cycle Challenge to take part and raise funds for Challengers and we always look forward to seeing them. in 2020, COINS Foundation generously raised an incredible £7,400 through The Grand Tour event, where a total of 17,000 miles was travelled to virtually visit all COINS global offices. We are extremely grateful to COINS Foundation and the team for their ongoing support and generosity, and the impact that their support has.

NFU Mutual

NFU Mutual first supported Challengers through their COVID Funding programme in 2020, donating an amazing £3,164. This vital donation helped us to continue running our services throughout the pandemic. Since then, NFU Mutual have continued to support us with their grant scheme every year. In total NFU Mutual have donated an incredible £16,494.62 with hopes of this support to continue!

Pearson Hards Solicitors

An avid champion of Challengers, Pearson Hards, have shown their support in a variety of ways. 2019-2020 they picked Challengers to be their first ever Charity of the Year, this meant so much to us here and since then they have continued to attend fundraising events (took part in our 2020 Guildford Cathedral Abseil!) as well as fundraising through their own initiative. Over these few years, Pearson Hards have raised £8944.23 for Challengers! A relationship like the one Challengers has with Pearson Hards to so important, not just funding to be able to run our services but the passion that the employees have about the work that we provide and spreading the word to others.

Waitrose

Waitrose have supported Challengers for many years through their Community Matters programme. Collectively across all stores in the South-East region, they have donated a total of £17,894.13! Local stores to Challengers have also been so generous with Gifts in Kind. For example, donating their cages for us to use as storage in our Guildford Toy Shed and providing food or drink at some of our events.

Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving is a simple way for you to make a regular donation to Challengers directly from your salary. Donating in this way is the most tax-effective way of giving to charity. Simply put, it means Challengers receives more at no extra cost to you!

As a company, it’s also an opportunity to gain recognition by achieving a Quality Mark Award. Payroll Giving is easy to set up and our Fundraising team is happy to help you with every step of the process.

Employee Volunteering

We have plenty of events throughout the year that need the support of volunteers, or there are also opportunities for employees to volunteer at our centres in Farnham or Guildford to help keep our centres safe and fun for children. Gifts in Kind

Supporting Challengers with gifts in kind can be a simple but valuable way of working with us. In-kind support from companies could be in the form of raffle or auction prizes, as well as the donation of products or professional services that aid the operational side of the charity.

Corporate Foundations

Many businesses have their own corporate foundations, and some require employee support for applications. If your company has a foundation and you’d like Challengers to be considered for a grant, please let us know and we can help you make the most out of your application.
