Meet Ken
For over 35 years, supporter Ken has been helping us secure the vital resources we need to invest in our services – making a real difference to disabled children and their families.
Ken’s journey with Challengers began back in 1990, when he shared a house with the centre manager of Challengers’ Guildford centre. A chance visit enabled him to see first-hand the incredible impact of our work, and how important our services were for local disabled children and their families. As Ken fondly recalls, he couldn’t wait for the children to finish so he could have a go on the soft play himself!
Through daring challenges and dedicated volunteering, Ken has raised over £10,000 to help us sustain and grow our services. Most recently, Ken took on the thrill of a skydive, raising an amazing £3,613 towards the team’s incredible total of £16,213. Every fundraiser like this secures vital funds that go directly into supporting more children and families.

“The exhilaration of jumping out of an aeroplane at 15,000 ft and free-falling at 120 mph was completely ‘off the wall’ and definitely not something I thought I’d do at my age! But I knew I was strapped to a Red Devils Parachute Team instructor who had done it plenty of times before.” – Ken
Alongside fundraising, Ken has invested his time by volunteering at events, attending gala dinners and networking events, and supporting Challengers’ Business Club. His efforts have helped to expand our network of supporters and unlock new funding opportunities.
And despite his amazing personal totals, Ken credits the collective power of the team:
“Whatever I have raised has been part of “Team Orange” as a combined team effort. Without the rest of the orange teams, I would have raised nothing.”
-Ken

By securing vital funds year after year, supporters like Ken are helping us continue to invest in the future, ensuring more disabled children can access our inclusive services, and more families can rely on us for support.
