Challengers were delighted to have been selected as the Charity Of The Year by Effingham Golf Club in 2024 by the club captains, Peter Balcombe and Meriel Wright. Through their incredible dedication and the generosity of members and supporters, the club has raised an astonishing £33,095.86 for Challengers! These vital funds will transform the lives of local disabled children at Challengers through the power of play, while also offering their families essential respite from the demands of caring.
We so appreciate the time, energy and effort from Meriel and Peter over the past year. The Captains wrote about the partnership below: ‘As the Effingham Golf Club Captains in 2024, Peter Balcombe and Meriel Wright, we chose Challengers as our charity for their year. Having a family interest in the charity we then found out that other members have also benefited from Challengers so we were delighted to be able to donate a fantastic amount to them recently. We turned our Club orange for the year, held several fundraisers throughout the year culminating in a Charity Day in September. We would like to thank all our members for their generosity throughout the year and Challengers for all their help and guidance’.
