We’re excited to share that we have two wonderful new Trustees joining the Challengers Board. Please join us in welcoming Danae Salwan and Lee Bennett to Team Orange!
As Trustees, Danae and Lee will play an important role in shaping the future of the charity by using their skills and experience to oversee our safeguarding procedures and help us enhance our fundraising potential.
Meet Danae Salwan, our new Safeguarding Trustee
Danae’s journey as a mother to a disabled son has led her to appreciate the mission of our charity.
With her diverse professional background in banking and education, and her experience as a Governor for a primary school supporting the special needs unit for eight years, Danae is an exceptional addition to our team. We are honored to work with her and are confident that her dedication will inspire us all. Thrilled with her appointment, Danae said:
“I am very proud to be a Challengers Trustee. I hope to use my experience to help the charity do all it can to safeguard and protect the fabulous, yet vulnerable, children and young people in our care.”

Meet Lee Bennett, our new Fundraising Trustee
As the former CEO of The Brigitte Trust, The Garwood Foundation, and currently The Meath epilepsy charity, Lee has brought about positive change to the lives of many young people, and he is excited to do the same at Challengers through his Trustee position.
Lee has also played a significant role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of residents in Surrey as the former Chair of Trustees at The Mary Frances Trust. With his wealth of experience of working in the charity sector for over two decades, we look forward to seeing what valuable insights Lee can contribute to the team. Following his appointment, Lee said:
“I have long admired the work of Challengers and I am delighted to support this vibrant organisation that transforms the lives of disabled children and families through the power of play.”
