Working and fundraising alongside disabled children is particularly close to my heart having volunteered in the charities supporting my severely disabled sister. Most recently I volunteered at the Wimbledon tennis championship with the Accessibility Support Team, helping disabled children and adults have the most enjoyable day possible in a challengingly bustling and vibrant environment.’ – Ashley Carter
Holly Goodwin is a Yorkshire-born, Guildford-based marketing professional with over a decade of experience across the education, charity, and agency sectors. Holly’s career has included roles at the educational charity AQA, the global creative and advertising agency Ogilvy, and most recently as a Marketing Strategist at The University of Law.

‘I am excited to be taking on my first role as a charity trustee and to contribute my strategic marketing and communications expertise to support Challengers’ vital work with disabled children. As a new mother, I am seeing first-hand the transformative impact of play on a child’s development, and I strongly believe that every child should have the opportunity to experience it without exclusion. I look forward to supporting the organisation as it continues to champion accessible, joyful play for all children in our community.’ – Holly Goodwin
Dr Ruth Milton is a public health physician with over 25 years’ experience of national and local leadership. Including the NHS, Ruth has been provider, commissioner and local authority director of public health, working in local health and local government systems, providing strategic transformational, professional leadership and Board oversight and assurance.

‘I have long-standing voluntary experience with national professional bodies, such as the Association of Director of Public Health, and most recently worked for the UK Health Security Agency providing public health medical leadership on planning, preparedness and responding to incidents impacting on the public’s health, with a particular focus on those most vulnerable in our communities. I am excited to have this opportunity to be working with Challengers.’ – Dr Ruth Milton
David Stam is a Governor of a Woking primary school, and prior to retirement enjoyed senior sales and marketing positions with major magazine publishers responsible for flagship titles such as Country Life, TV Times and The Spectator. ‘I have lived close to the Challengers Guildford Centre for over 40 years and have seen the charity grow, as well as being a regular attendee at events. I believe that I will be able to bring my management and educational background to help Challengers develop its important initiatives in aiding local children and their families and I feel privileged to be invited to become part of the Trustee team.’ – David Stam
