Angela Richardson MP visits Challengers!

Monday 11th July 2022

We were delighted to welcome Angela Richardson, MP for Guildford to our Stoke Park centre on Friday 24th June. Not only was it great for her to be able to see the work that we do by spending time with the children in our inclusive pre-school, she also took the time to chat with some #TeamOrange parents about the important challenges faced by SEND families.

Speaking of her visit, Angela said “I was delighted to have the opportunity to visit Challengers and meet the amazing staff, children and their parents. Listening to their stories was not only informative but moving as well. The fundraising effort for the new playground is something I will be telling people about at every chance – I know it will be successful and hope to be invited back to see it when it is built.”

With March’s release of the SEND review, reform is needed now more than ever, which is why we put utmost importance on listening to our parents so that we know and understand the support that they need. Challengers will always to do its very best for disabled children and their families, but support from the wider sector and Government is needed to make this happen.

CEO Gen Dearman said “It’s good to feel heard” – we are delighted Angela is extremely supportive of our newly launched #BigPlayAppeal and are excited to work with her in the future to support disabled children and young people and their families as much as we can.
