ABOUT US

Challengers is a charity dedicated to transforming the lives of disabled children and young people through the power of play. We provide inclusive, fun, and safe spaces across the South East where children aged 4–18 can make friends, enjoy new experiences, and develop vital life skills. Our unique non-exclusion policy ensures that every child, regardless of the complexity of their needs, is welcomed and supported.

What could your organisation offer?

We want to work with organisations that are passionate about inclusion and would like to give disabled children and young people opportunities to have fun, try something new, build confidence, make friends and be part of their community.

We’re interested in a wide range of activities, including:

  • Sports and physical activities
  • Arts, crafts and creative workshops
  • Music, dance and performance
  • Outdoor and nature-based activities
  • Wellbeing and sensory activities
  • Life skills and independence activities
  • Activities linked to your organisation’s skills, expertise or specialist interests

We’re particularly keen to hear from organisations and community partners who can bring something new and exciting to our children, young people and families.

Volunteer Activity Provider – JD

How could it work?

We are flexible and can explore different ways of working together.

Your organisation could provide:

A one-off activity – A taster session or special activity giving families the opportunity to try something new.

A short programme – A series of sessions allowing children and young people to develop skills, confidence and familiarity with an activity.

An ongoing activity – A regular activity delivered across our services, depending on your availability and the needs of our families. Activities can take place across our services in Surrey, Hampshire, West Sussex and the Boroughs of Kingston and Richmond after school, at weekends or during the school holidays.

What are we looking for? We’d love to hear from organisations that are:

  • Passionate about inclusion
  • Friendly, enthusiastic and reliable
  • Able to provide an engaging activity or experience
  • Willing to adapt activities to meet different needs
  • Comfortable working alongside Challengers staff and volunteers
  • Committed to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment

You don’t necessarily need previous experience of working with disabled children and young people. Our team can work alongside you to help make activities accessible and successful.

Challengers is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS Check and satisfactory references.

We’re reviewing applications on a rolling basis and may start meeting with people early if someone brilliant comes along – so don’t wait too long to apply!
