The Friary Guildford chooses Challengers as their Charity of the Year

The Friary Guildford has chosen to support Challengers for the coming year. To kick off the partnership, we were very fortunate to receive a cheque for £500.

A donation of £500 can mean the world to the disabled children and young people that Challengers support. For example, it costs approximately £500 to take a group of 20 young people to Thorpe Park for the day and unique experiences like this are essential; it means disabled young people can take part in the same activities as their non-disabled peers, all whilst their care and behavioral needs are being supported.

The Friary plan to continue their fundraising throughout the year through Orange Friday, where staff are encouraged to dress in an item of orange clothing and donate for the pleasure of doing so! As well as taking part in our Play Day Campaign, where staff donate to play various games over their lunch hour. We are also looking forward to being able to run Christmas Wrapping stalls over Christmas which always prove to be popular!

When asked why The Friary chose to support Challengers, Rachael Millward, Marketing Co-ordinator, said “We’re really impressed by the work Challengers do. Their commitment to providing challenging and, most importantly, inclusive play and leisure activities for disabled children and young people across the county is truly inspiring.”

We have been very lucky to have support from the Friary before by running bucket collections in the shopping centre so we were so pleased to hear that The Friary chose Challengers for the entire year. Their support will be amazing in raising awareness for Challengers amongst their shoppers and we are so grateful for the range of fundraising activities that they are doing throughout the year.
