Princess Beatrice visits Challengers

We were delighted to have the honour of a visit from Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York on Wednesday 12th July to mark the charity’s 40th birthday.

The Princess met children at our pre-school alongside the many staff and volunteers who make Challengers a reality for the 1,400 disabled children and young people who access our inclusive services.

HRH enjoyed speaking with the children, staff and volunteers, and on the day said:

“Challengers stands for inclusion, fun and family and I could not be more thrilled to be here to mark your 40th birthday. From the moment I entered the building it felt like I was joining a family that celebrates and supports all children and their families”.

Our Chief Executive Laura Sercombe was thrilled to show Her Royal Highness around the centre, she said:

“Challengers has been offering a lifeline service for 40 years and depends on the community around every one of its 26 schemes to make this possible.

“2019 is a particularly exciting year for the charity and we are hoping that everyone feels inspired to become part of our celebrations. We encourage anyone keen to help to get in touch and come visit us as we would love to show you round!”
