Fundraiser Tales: Megan takes on The Challengers Trek!

Megan Mousley, a new member of our Fundraising team is taking on the 40km Challengers Trek! In this Fundraiser Tale, she tells us what motivated her to sign up and how she’s been training for the day. She also shares some fabulous fundraising tips! Go Megan!

I recently joined the Challengers fundraising team as Challenge events officer so it seems only fitting for me to take part in a Challenge event and get first-hand experience of the supporter journey we offer. I signed up to the 40km Challengers Trek 2019 along with two other new recruits Marcus and Claire. It has been so lovely to encourage and support one another and also have the rest of the office behind us.

Each of us have our own little fundraising activity going on in the office – I’m bringing sugary home-baked treats in each week, Marcus has his tuck shop and nacho Wednesday, and Claire has a sweep stake for…you guessed it, Love Island! We also have plans to do some joint fundraising activities which is exciting!

My training so far is going well, I am trying to get out as much as I can and on the weekend do a long walk! I’ve turned it into a right family affair by dragging my partner, daughter and the dog along with me!

Signing up to the trek has most definitely been a motivation to be active and allows me to indulge in the yummy treats that go around the office and Marcus’ tuckshop! Maybe once the trek is over I’ll sign up for another fundraising challenge to keep my motivation…London Marathon 2020 – watch this space!

I honestly believe that Challengers is a truly amazing charity and I feel so proud when I put on my orange t-shirt! I am about to embark on my first challenge event, but most definitely not my last!

If you would like to sponsor Megan, you can donate on her fundraising page

There is still time to sign up to The Challengers Trek, taking place on Saturday 6th July. There are two routes to choose from; either 20km, or 40km. Find out more information, including how to sign up here
