Challengers schemes update – July 2020

Important update orange background

Following the closure of Challengers schemes due to COVID-19 in March, we are pleased to confirm that we have now re-opened a small number of schemes and are currently running limited Pre-school, Play and Youth services in our owned centres in Guildford and Farnham. We will also be providing a limited Summer Holiday service in August.

The health and safety of children and staff is our top priority, and we have developed stringent new risk assessments, training, and procedures in order to keep everyone safe. We are complying with Government guidance on social distancing, which means that we are only able to accommodate a very small number of children at each scheme, and we have adopted the bubble system to minimise the spread of any potential viruses between groups.

Unfortunately, we are unable to register any new service users or conduct first visits at this time. If you are interested in attending Challengers in the future, please register your interest here and we will contact you when restrictions have been lifted.

Many of our scheme staff remain on furlough while we run a limited service, and office staff continue to work from home, so we ask that you please direct any enquiries via email.

We appreciate how difficult the lockdown has been for disabled children and their families, and we hope to be able to re-open more schemes and accommodate more children and young people at Challengers as soon as we can. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will make adjustments to our service when it is safe for us to do so.

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.

Kind regards,
Challengers Play & Leisure Team
