Challengers Chat: December 2016
Welcome to the first exciting instalment of the Challengers Chat. This month, Communications Officer Max Raymond talks about our new website and Christmas at Challengers.
Hello there! My name is Max and I work in the Events & Communications Team at Challengers HQ.
The current mood at Challengers HQ can be summed up in one word: Christmas! There’s already been lots of festive fun across our schemes so far this December, including trips out for our Youthschemes to see some top quality pantomime (Oh no they aren’t! Oh yes they are!) and snow days at our Playschemes. I’m particularly looking forward to visiting some schemes later this month as they enjoy their Christmas parties, which will be full of festive food and music. I’ve also been informed that there might be a visit from a very special guest – who could it be?…
You may have seen some of our Christmas stories over the last couple of weeks on social media. I’m sure we all have our cherished festive memories. (For me, it’s just not Christmas without a double bill of The Snowman and The Snowman And The Snowdog!)
A donation to Challengers this festive season will go towards making lots of incredible memories for local disabled children and young people across our schemes. No matter how big or small, your donation will make a big difference.
I can’t believe that we have nearly reached the end of 2016! A lot has happened over the last twelve months. Some of my personal highlights include heading to the House of Lords for the launch of the Realising Potential campaign, cheering on our London Marathon and Prudential RideLondon teams, our fantastic Business Club events, and much, much more besides!
One highlight I am particularly proud of though is the brand new Challengers website, which we launched into the world on the 1st November. This is the result of lots of hard work behind the scenes over the last few months, with invaluable support from Something Big and the Farnham Lions, which we are hugely grateful for. Whether you are looking for fundraising inspiration, information about our schemes, or even just more information about the organisation, the new website has everything you need in one place.
Some of the big changes include:
- The website is now fully optimised for smartphones and tablets.
- All online donations to Challengers can now be made securely through the website.
- All of our news stories, events and photo galleries are now all in one place.
- We have also put online some really lovely parent stories about how Challengers has changed their lives.
I would definitely recommend exploring the whole site if you haven’t already done so. It is been such a pleasure to watch this project grow, from the planning stages through to testing, and I am thrilled to see that so many of you are already enjoying the new website already!
From all of us at Challengers, have a peaceful Christmas and a wonderful New Year!
