Challengers celebrates commitment to paying Real Living Wage

We are so excited to share that we are now officially accredited as a Living Wage Employer, paying the Real Living Wage!

As an accredited employer, all members of staff working at Challengers now receive a minimum hourly wage of £9.90 (£11.05 in London), regardless of their age.

These rates of pay are significantly higher than the government minimums, which currently stand at £6.56 for 18-20 year olds, £8.36 for 21 and 22 year olds, and £8.91 per hour for over 23s.

The Real Living Wage is the only rate of pay which is calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 300,000 people, and put over £1.6 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.

These businesses recognise that paying the Real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Challengers, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.”
