The Challengers Awards banner

2019 marks the charities 40th birthday and we have a whole host of things up our orange sleeves to celebrate. Part of what makes Challengers so special are the staff, the supporters and the volunteers. We always try our best to thank everyone as we know how important their continued support is.

This year we wanted to go one step further and publicly encourage others to do the same, so – The Challengers Awards were born.

There are 3 awards you can nominate people for:

The Helen Foley Supporter Award

Helen Foley was one of the founders of Challengers and is the Lifetime President.

This is an award to celebrate individuals or companies who have supported Challengers. Support can have been financial, in kind or advice & support.

The Colin Hassell Play Award

Colin Hassell was one of the founders of Challengers and is still an avid supporter of Challengers – he ran the London Marathon for us in 2018!

This is an award to celebrate amazing play and youth work across Challengers. Any member of pre-school, play, youth or young adult staff can be nominated for this award. They can be paid or volunteer workers.

The Sandy Tyrrell Volunteering Award

Sandy Tyrell was one of the first play workers to ever play work at Challengers, has been an amazing supporter over the years – taking part in all sorts of fundraising events and is now a Patron. Since the first day Sandy has always volunteered her time.

This is an award to celebrate the amazing volunteers who support Challengers through things such as corporate volunteer days, working in the office, trustee & ambassador roles or the people that help out at events.
