Challengers were delighted to attend the official opening of Guildford’s first ‘Changing Places’ facility at The Friary on Wednesday 22nd January.

The facilities include a large changing room, fully equipped with an adult-size, height adjustable changing bench and hoist. There is also a designated family toilet, parents’ room, and a quiet room.

By creating this comfortable and spacious facility, Guildford Borough Council are meeting the needs of so many families, carers and disabled people in the community. Helping to make Guildford town centre accessible to everyone, including the young people that use our services.

Jennifer Corless, Head of Communications at Challengers said: “Most people might not view a toilet opening as a big deal, however for those with a disability, like the disabled children and young people who come to Challengers and their families and carers, this means they will no longer have to worry about when and where the next toilet stop will be.

“The addition of this new Changing Places facility makes Guildford a much more inclusive and accessible place, and we hope that others will follow suit and choose to invest in facilities which are welcoming and accessible for everyone.”
