Simplyhealth go above and beyond for Challengers

Challengers, a local charity supporting disabled children and young people across Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire, have been lucky enough to receive a large donation from Simplyhealth.

The fantastic donation of £102,000 has been given to Challengers to continue the two-to-one support that Challengers provides for the children and young people who attend Challengers schemes. Two-to-one provision is becoming increasingly important. Challengers is 100% inclusive meaning that any child, no matter how complex their support needs are, can come and have fun.

The donation from Simplyhealth will enable children and young people to take part in exciting activities such as sailing, adventure parks, pub lunches, zoo trips, messy art, treasure hunts, music workshops and loads more with the correct support provided.

As well as all the fun that it brings to children and young people, this donation means that families can also have a short-break.

“Challengers has impacted our lives significantly, especially giving us time on Saturdays and through the holidays. When Reece is at Challengers we spend the days doing what families without children with disabilities take for granted. – go for coffee, have something to eat without having to worry about Reece. We also use the time to catch up on things we cannot do when Reece is about.” – Challenges Parent.

This is not the first time Simplyhealth has supported Challengers, the partnership began last year when Simplyhealth gave a donation to help the development of Challengers’ young adult provision that supports ages 18 – 25 and the charity are incredibly grateful for their continued generosity.

Susie Jewell, Corporate Partnerships Manager for Challengers, said: “I am overwhelmed with the support from Simplyhealth and this amazing donation will be directly helping children and young people who need this level of support. We are so grateful to Simplyhealth and cannot thank them enough.”

Simplyhealth’s Chairman Ken Piggott, comments: “I’m delighted that Simplyhealth has been able to make this further contribution. The Challengers team undertakes fantastic work with children and young people, with great skill and dedication.

I am proud that our donation will enable them to continue to develop and deliver the two-to-one support for children and young people, and to provide such an exciting range of activities, whilst giving their families a well-earned break.”
