Hindhead Golf Club hosts Challengers Golf Day

The third annual Challengers Golf Day was held at the stunning Hindhead Golf Club on Thursday 9th March and saw professional golf pro James Morrison and golfing legend Peter Alliss join 20 teams of keen golfers for a fantastic day raising over £17,500 for local charity Challengers.

The sun was shining when 80 golfers gathered for a shotgun round of golf, playing one of the most prestigious courses in Surrey, Hindhead. Along the course there were games including Longest Drive, Nearest the Pin and the exclusive Beat the Pro with James Morrison, European Tour Winner and Challengers Patron. Each golfer went up against James Morrison to see who could get closest to the pin which led to a fabulous atmosphere, a little competition and lots of laughter.

Challengers are a local charity who provide fun and exciting play and leisure schemes for disabled children and young people. Currently supporting over 1,400 families across 26 different schemes, Challengers are getting ready for a fun-packed Easter Holidays where lots of awesome activities will be taking place such as music workshops, messy art, mobile farm visits, companion cycling, just to name a few!

After 18 holes, golfers returned to the clubhouse for dinner and some more games including a quiz where their golf knowledge was tested, leaving just one lucky winner. Peter Alliss, BBC commentator and former professional golfer, joined the room for dinner. Peter and his wife Jackie help with numerous fundraising golf events throughout the year, and have a very special one on Tuesday 26th September at the prestigious Old Thorns Golf Club in Liphook.

Hannah Woollven, Events & Communications Manager at Challengers, said: “Today has been absolutely fantastic. We have been blessed with the weather and it has been lovely to see everyone enjoying the beautiful course. Thank you to Hindhead Golf Club, Jackie Alliss and Frances Dowty for helping us make today such a success. This amazing sum of money will make a huge difference to the children and young people that come to Challengers.”
